Update: As of June 2021, business short names have been discontinued. Meaning you can no longer create or edit short names for review links. Short names and URLs that already exist will still work.
One of the easiest ways to get reviews on your Google listing is to set up a simple URL for your Google My Business listing. With a simple URL, people can just type it into their browsers (or a QR Code to scan it) and will be taken straight to your GMB page with the review box popping up – no need to elaborate with text or more complicated links.
It also helps you stand out from the crowd because most people don’t have this yet.
Get Your Google Business Profile Review Link
- On Google Search or Maps, search for your business name and city. (Or you can sign in to Google Business Profile).
- Select Customers > Reviews > Get more reviews.
- Copy the review link.
Using Your Google Review URL
QR Codes Review Links
Some businesses are using QR Codes to encourage customers to leave reviews. They may attach a tag with a QR Code to the item purchased (or add it to a product’s paperwork or packaging).
If you don’t know what QR codes are, you may want to read up on them and understand how they work. They are very useful ways of allowing customers to quickly access a URL from a QR code image using their phone camera. By creating a QR code of your review link, they can simply scan the QR code and be taken directly to the review page. For example, they are great for cafe owners that can hand out little review cards for happy customers.
Use a QR Code Generator to help you with this process – some generators allow for custom designed QR Codes.
There are heaps of places you can place your new QR Code such as on dockets you print out, on the back of the door on the way out of your business, or on your Thank You Flyers/Packages you include with your products that you send out.

Include A Link In Your Email Footer
While risking your business to bad reviews, A clever place to insert your review links is in your email footer. Your customers will see them regularly and hopefully be reminded that they should leave you a review on GMB.
If you do not have an email signature, go get one from hubspot’s email signature generator.
Product Followup Emails
The value of a product follow up email with review links is that it can make a review more favorable.
The customer will feel more appreciated and cared for when you show them that you want their opinion by sending them an email with a link for them to make a review. You also capture them at a more favorable point in their customer journey.
Be sure to have enough time after the customer’s purchase to allow them to fully use the product/service for the best review.
